Affordable X10 Home Automation at a Glance

Last updated on January 17, 2018 by Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

Home automation was once the stuff of science fiction. Then it became possible, but only for the extremely wealthy 1% or 2%. Now home automation is accessible to nearly everyone — including you! X10 Home Automation Systems make what was once a far-off dream into an affordable reality to anyone with a smartphone. Piggy-backing on your handheld Android or Apple device, home’s existing WiFi signal, and electrical wiring, X10 Home Automation can turn any home into a “smart home.” No technical expertise or professional installation is needed, and you’ll never have a monthly fee.

How X10 Home Automation Systems Work

In reality, X10 doesn’t have a variety of systems; we use that term quite loosely. What we do offer are plenty of bundled kits that allow you to save money as you build your own system, combining whatever X10 Home Automation products that you desire. Whether you’re the ease-into-anything-new type of person or the go-big-or-go-home type, we have a kit that’s right for you! Regardless of the size kit or system you choose, the basic components of any X10 Home Automation system remain the same: a controller, a transceiver, and a module.

X10 Driveway Sensor Alert Kit

Basic X10 Home Automation Starter Kits

For types that would prefer to get your feet wet by just dipping a toe, we recommend our 3-piece Driveway Sensor Alert Kit (pictured above), which allows you to be alerted when someone is on your front stoop or your driveway. It includes as the controller our MS16A ActiveEye Motion Sensor.  The transceiver in the kit is the ever-popular TV751 Transceiver Module,  and the module in this case is the SC546A Remote Chime, which can be plugged in anywhere in your home, making it more versatile than most standard door bells — whether or not your “guest” desires for you to be aware of their presence. As you can see with the video at the bottom of this page, setup is simple.

Starter Kit MT13A MiniTimer & LM465 Lamp Module

Another great starter kit is the 2-piece MiniTimer Control Kit (pictured above). Basically, buying the items in this kit as a bundle allows you to receive the LM465 Lamp Module for free with your MT14A MiniTimer purchase. The MiniTimer can program up to 64 events, turning lights and other appliances on and off according to a schedule. Are you ready to hear about setup? Simply plug it in, and you’re ready to go!

MAX Home Automation Complete System

Extensive X10 Home Automation Complete Kits

For those ready to jump into the exciting sea of X10 Home Automation with both feet, the MAX Home Automation Complete System (pictured above) includes plenty of possibilities and still comes out to well under $200! The MAX comes with the following modules:

• 1 unit of the TM751 Wireless Transceiver Module
• 1 unit of the SS13A Slimline Switch
• 2 units of the WS467 Wall Switch Module
• 3 units of the AM486 Appliance Module
• 3 units of the LM465 Lamp Module

If even the MAX isn’t enough home automation for you, you could purchase this integrated X10 Home Automation and Home Security bundle.
