Automate Your Home With the X10 WiFi HUB

Last updated on April 16, 2018 by Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

Building on the already-amazing foundation of X10 technology, the all-new WM100 X10 WiFi HUB for Android and Apple devices will take your Home Security and Home Automation capabilities to an entirely new level of customization and control. Allowing you to control all your X10 units from anywhere you can get online with your mobile device, the possibilities are truly endless! Let’s take just a glimpse at what the WM100 can mean for you.

X10 WiFi Hub

Basic Features

The WM100 X10 WiFi module will allow you to do anything remotely that you could formerly do only from your home. It gives you the capability of setting up, using, and controlling up to 32 of the more than 250 X10 codes possible. You have the option of setting and repeating timers on a daily, Dawn/Dusk cycle or on a weekly rotation that makes sense with your family’s individual schedule. Alternatively, you can use timers as an added security feature, giving your home a lived-in look when it’s actually empty.

The way the WM100 works is that it communicates wirelessly with your home’s existing WiFi router. Setup, true to X10 form, is simple: plug it in within 100 feet of your router, download the “X10 WiFi” app, and follow the directions onscreen. Once you have established a connection between your WM100 and your router, you can start adding X10 modules. And don’t worry if some of your X10 models are older ones — even though the Hub utilizes newer technology, it will still work with most older X10 devices.

Convenient Settings

In addition to being able to set up basic settings and timers remotely, the WM100 allows you to create both location and situation-specific timers to suit your personal preferences. One of those is called “Rooms.” The Rooms feature allows you to group multiple X10-enabled devices according to their locations, simplifying your day-to-day routine. When you have several X10 devices in a single area of your home, you can now easily turn them on in a single step.

Another new feature that the WM100 provides is called “Scenes.” Rather than location-based like Rooms, Scenes allows you to perform several actions at once, including multiple locations and action types.

For instance, you may wish to create a Scene called “Wake,” which could include turning on your bedside lamp to 30% brightness and then, in a few minutes, up to full brightness. Five minutes later, it could prompt your overhead bedroom light to turn on, along with your coffee maker located downstairs. It won’t quite put the bread in the toaster for you, but pretty close!

Another possible Scene you might want to set is “Movie.” It could prompt the living room lights to turn off, any fans to be silenced, the TV to turn on, and lights in nearby rooms to dim — all at the touch of a single button!

All timers and settings are easily editable, and the device’s built-in memory allows the WM100 to retain your settings, even when it’s not powered for a time.
