New Creations – Boarding School, Basketball Academy & Crossroads Ranch

Last updated on June 17, 2010 by Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

New Creations was founded in 1969 by Tim and Bonnie Cummings. The ministry began as a choir. As the choir grew, the need to house several of the students became necessary. While the choir continues to flourish, the ministry has surrounded the ideal that youth desperately need to experience the love and power of God in their lives.

Today, New Creations has helped literally thousands of teens do just that: experience God in a tangible way. Currently, the ministry consists of 700 plus acres of wooded Indiana/Ohio property with three lakes and a river that allows for great enjoyment for everyone. The ministry which began as a choir has now become a large ministry with several facets.

The boarding school exists as a foundational program for students from every state in our nation & countries from around the world to come to experience God. The program focuses on “at-risk” students, many of whom most would likely have a less than desirable future had their mom and dad not foreseen the future and taken action. It is essentially a 15 month structured, disciplined program designed to help the student experience God and learn a better way.

New Creations Christian School exists to educate the students academically. We are a fully accredited on-campus school for each of the residential programs, staff, and local students.

The vision also included a Christian camp, which we now have and fully operate but still in infancy stages. This year we will see 500 campers come and enjoy the property and buildings to experience God.

In 2004 New Creations started a Residential basketball academy that brings students in from literally all around the world. These students come with great vision and are educated academically, spiritually, and of course in basketball with the aspirations of obtaining a scholarship to play college basketball ball and, eventually, play in the NBA.

In the mid 1990’s, New Creations started an equestrian program. At present we are now Crossroads Ranch which consists of 15 plus horses for all to enjoy. The program supports all the residential students both in the classroom and in the field. We currently have several weeks during the summer for horse camp consisting of local and residential students. Again, this program surrounds the love of God as a ministry opportunity.

Of course, a ministry would not be complete without its own church. Almost from the beginning there has been church services held on campus to minister to the students. New Creations Church holds three weekly services for all the residential students, staff, and welcomes the surrounding communities as well.

While this article, in a capsule, explains some history of the ministry of New Creations, it is difficult to put on paper what happens on a daily basis, and what the future holds as we continue to expand with great vision to reach the lost youth of our culture. We invite you to come to our campus, take a tour, and experience the great things God has done.

Note: New Creations Boarding School closed on July 2016 after 47 years of successful ministry serving troubled youth.
