Hot Pool Trends to Make Your Pool Cooler than Ever – Part 3

Last updated on February 12, 2019 by Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

Perhaps nothing can alter the ambiance of your backyard pool area more than the lighting you choose to install. While your pool’s main interior lighting serves the practical purpose of illuminating the water for safer evening and nighttime swimming, adding extra lighting to the area can completely transform the mood of your pool and patio. Here are a couple of pool lighting ideas that will give your pool that wow factor you’ve been hoping to create.

Add Interior Pool Accent Lighting for Extra Sparkle and Shine

Backyard pools have had interior lights installed in them for decades. Plain, white halogen or incandescent lights were once the norm. Now, there are many more options to choose from when it comes to pool interior lighting. LED lights are generally preferred over older options, because they’re more energy efficient to run, and they shouldn’t need to be changed as often. There’s also the option of adding fiber optic lighting.

Fiber optic lights can be added to the bottom and sides of your pool’s interior. Though it may be difficult to derive enough light from them to adequately light your entire pool, they make excellent accent lights. They give the appearance of twinkling stars shining from the inside of your pool.

Both LED lights and fiber optic interior pool lights come in a variety of different styles and colors. They even have color changing options if you’re going for a fun party ambiance.

Add Exterior Pool Lighting for an Inviting Atmosphere

Making sure you have plenty of lighting inside the pool is a must if you’re going to keep it open after dark. But what about lighting the area surrounding the pool? In the old days, you may have gotten by with a glaring flood light or two. With today’s myriad of lighting options, you can give your pool and patio area a truly magical appearance.

Whether they’re color changing LED or fiber optic lights, adding a strip of lighting right around your pool’s perimeter is a great way to add some pizazz to your pool. Another way to add mood lighting as well as brighten up your outdoor poolside area is adding lighting strips, tilted-up spotlights, or holiday light strands to bushes and tree trunks surrounding your pool. There are a whole host of popular options for walkway luminaries, including smart, energy efficient solar path lights.

Add Lighting with Fire Elements for a Dramatic, Back-to-Nature Look

When it comes to lighting, nothing communicates romance and adventure more than fire. There are plenty of creative lighting options now available that add the charm of an open flame to your poolside patio décor. These include everything from simple fire pits to elaborate fireplaces, fire bowls, torches, and more. The warm glow of fire beside your swimming pool will have a mesmerizing effect on both you and your guests. It’s the perfect setting for gathering and making memories with friends and loved ones all summer long.

Sprucing up your pool’s interior, exterior, and landscape lighting could be just what you need to move your pool’s appearance to the next level. In the next article in this series, we’ll look at some practical pool trends for achieving a better overall experience in the pool.
