How Jackrabbit Can Improve Your Music School, Part 2

Last updated on December 6, 2017 by Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

In Part 1 of this series, we explored the way Matt Coker of Coker Music has benefited from incorporating web-based tools from Jackrabbit. He focused on the accounting prowess, flexibility, and added professionalism that Jackrabbit has offered his growing business. Now we’re going to take a peek at what Elizabeth and Phil Niverson love about Jackrabbit. Their business, Jennings Music and Education Center, includes 20 instructors and over 160 students at a single locale.

While Jennings Music and Education Center focuses primarily on private music lessons, the Center also incorporates group lessons, band labs, and a large music store. With such a variety of offerings, you can imagine how much this organization benefited when they no longer needed to manually enter data and manage payments. The many features of Jackrabbit software have helped Elizabeth and Phil simplify the business part of their work, allowing them to engage more regularly and meaningfully with the instructors they employ and the students they serve.

The parent portal allows parents the convenience of online registration, auto-pay, and account management, and it has the dual purpose of freeing up the management for other things. Here’s how the Niversons put it:

“Jackrabbit helps us manage the business of our business so we can get our eyes off the computer screen and stay engaged with our real business assets – our students and instructors.”

But Jackrabbit is more than a time-saving system that can be used by any kind of organization; it’s especially helpful for meeting the unique needs of music schools. Here’s what Phil has to say about that topic:

“The varied class structures and multitude of private lessons common for music schools present a challenge for any class management system but Jackrabbit’s flexibility has allowed me to fit its functionality to my business.”

For Phil, who’s a full-time IT consultant, the system also offers flexibility that can be used effectively by someone with his expertise. For instance, Phil uses the Jackrabbit import template to connect class details for new teachers. When it’s time for online registration, building classes is simplified. He’s also been able to use other, more advanced features (such as templates, transaction search, and exporting) to calculate tuition payments for each teacher, allowing him to easily process payroll in just 15 minutes!

But we really don’t expect you to take our word for it. Instead, listen to Phil’s take:

“Jackrabbit is the best system out there for handling transaction activities. And the report templates allow me to get the unique details of our business presented in ways that help us make decisions based on business facts – and then we can save them and never have to remake them to our unique needs again.”
