Our Favorite Home Automation System for Go-Big-or-Go-Home Types

Last updated on March 21, 2018 by Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

Some people are the just-dip-a-toe sort. You know the type: anything new makes them nervous, so they like to experiment without risking much. But if that doesn’t describe you at all, then this post is for you! You’re ready to go all in with X10 home automation and/or home security, and you want to save as much as possible (because, well, who wouldn’t?!). Well, we have some money-saving bundles designed with you in mind! We’ll start with our Max Home Automation Complete System.

MAX Home Automation Complete System

The Heart of any X10 Home Automation System

The Max Home Automation Complete System is an amazing value for the price! This complete X10 Home Automation System includes our customers’ favorite home automation products, starting with the heart of any wireless X10 system, the TM751 Wireless Transceiver.  Most homes can run off a single transceiver, which works by picking up radio frequency signals sent out from X10 switches or remotes. The TM751 then sends those signals out over your home’s existing wiring to any connected modules. The TM751 also includes a built-in appliance module that functions similar to the AM486 Appliance Module.

Two of the Most Popular X10 Module Styles

LM465 Lamp Module

Like any X10 Home Automation System, the Max includes both other components necessary to complete your system: controllers and modules. The Max includes 3 units of the AM486, 2-Pin Appliance Module. From fans and lamps to radios and coffee makers, this module allows you to remotely control any 2-pin, plug-in appliance or device.

In addition to appliance modules, this system also includes 3 units of the LM465 Lamp Module. The LM465 allows you to turn lights on or off as well as to dim them. These units can be used with most dimmable lighting options, allowing you to control them by simply pushing a button.

In addition to the AM486 and LM465, the Max also includes 2 units of the WS467 Wall Switch Module, which fits wherever a standard wall switch plate would fit and can be simply installed and operated. In order to control the light locally, simply press the button. (Otherwise, you can use any X10 controller in order to control it from another location.) While typically used to control incandescent lighting, the WS467 does include dimming and “soft start” features, lengthening the lifespan of your bulbs and sometimes saving your eyes.

Our Favorite X10 Controller

The Max comes with a single unit of the SS13A Slimline Switch Decorator White. This unit can be positioned anywhere in your home — just peel and stick! It offers wireless control of any appliance or light plugged into an X10 module.

If the Max isn’t enough for you, feel free to add on another home automation bundle.  And if you’re interested in X10 home security or combining home automation with home security, stay tuned to read about our 23-Piece MAX X10 Home Security System and our X10 Home Security Kit with Home Automation Bundle in our next post.
