Save Money When You Add an In-Ground Swimming Pool, Part 3

Last updated on March 8, 2018 by Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

When push comes to shove, many homeowners who would love to get an in-ground pool installed have a hard time getting past the associated price tag. But often they forget to consider the many things they won’t be paying for when they do take the plunge and purchase the most positive addition they can make to their back yard. From medical bills to vacation and entertainment costs, a backyard swimming pool can save you a lot of time, stress, and money through the years!

An added category of benefits relates to what you won’t need to do when it comes to landscaping.

Eliminate Other Landscaping Costs

With very little effort on your part and no professional landscaping at all, an in-ground swimming pool does more for the appearance and perceived value of your yard. Once you have a pool and the surrounding area set up, you can easily add patio accessories and other additions, but even if you don’t, the calming aesthetic of a pool will be more than enough to offset any lack of visual interest in other areas of your yard.

With the space taken up with your pool, you won’t have nearly as much grass to cut or yard space to maintain, so your pool might just eliminate the need for a riding lawn mower and shed in which to store it. (If you currently pay someone else to mow your lawn, of course, you’d be saving that weekly fee.)

And after a hard day’s work, the last thing you may want to do is to spend time maintaining your landscaping; that may only add to your stress level. Instead, you can spend the time relaxing in your swimming pool. (Again, refer back to the anxiety-reducing effects of a swimming pool!)

Eliminate Tax Liabilities

All of us love avoiding paying taxes, whenever we can legally do so, don’t we? If you choose to pay for your new swimming pool with a home-equity loan, the interest you pay may be tax deductible. (Be sure to ask an accountant or tax preparation professional about your specific loan type.)

Regardless of the type of loan you choose, realize that many financing options are available to help you afford the swimming pool of your dreams! We can help you determine the financing option that’s best for you and your budget.

An added financial benefit can come in the form of your home’s being more attractive to would-be home buyers in the future when that time does come. Unlike any of the expenses you’ll be eliminating, the money you invest in an in-ground swimming pool with have benefits years and even decades later, both for your family as well as for the next family to call your house their home.
