What Today’s Families Look for in a Swim School, Part 2

Last updated on January 31, 2020 by Sozo Staff Leave a Comment

When it comes to attracting students to your swim school, the look of your facilities can either serve as a help or a hindrance. We’ve already mentioned (see Part 1) the importance of making sure your pool area has attractive landscaping, plenty of shade and comfortable seating. Another point we raised was using bright, fun colors and making the atmosphere kid-friendly with play equipment and possibly a kiddie pool.

In this article, we’ll tackle a few more points about the facilities before moving on to discuss some other things families look for in a swim school.

This should go without saying, but make sure your entire facility is kept immaculately clean. Visible dirt and grime are a major turnoff. Don’t allow your floors, lockers, showers, furniture, bathrooms, or windows to become dusty, dirty, and dingy. Definitely keep the area free from mold and mildew. This means enlisting someone with meticulous cleaning standards to make sure your swim school looks spic and span every time your doors are open.

Make sure your locker room is user-friendly. This means providing adequate space for each student to get ready for class. The showers, storage areas, and changing areas should all be comfortable sizes. Ventilate the area and provide proper drainage to avoid problems with rot, mold, or mildew. Safety is also an important factor for the locker room. Use slip-resistant flooring. Lighting should be bright without looking harsh.

Prioritizing the appearance of your facilities is a must in the competitive world of swimming instruction. Prospective families will take note of the way everything looks from the moment they step onto your property. Do your best to give them a great first impression.

Offering Uncomplicated Online Billing, Registration, and Enrollment Options

Another key factor in attracting and retaining students at your swim school is offering a quick, simple method of registering and enrolling students and paying bills. Parents and grandparents with busy lives have enough to worry about already. They’ll certainly appreciate the chance for hassle-free and versatile registration, bill paying, and enrollment in your swim school.

There’s no doubt that online class management software is the wave of the future for all types of schools. You can use an online class management software system for all sorts of useful functions, such as communicating with parents instantly, keeping track of and updating your school’s social media accounts, taking care of taxes and payroll responsibilities, and completing financial reports.

If you’re not taking these steps, chances are that you’re missing out on a lot of extra business. Not only are these options more convenient for parents and staff members alike, but they also leave prospective clients with a marked impression of professionalism. Schools that implement these technologically up-to-date measures typically see an uptick in overall enrollment numbers.

As you can see, getting in step with the times and streamlining the way you do business will make your school far more attractive to potential clients. It will also make your job more stress-free. You’ll finally be able to cut down on all that paperwork. In our final article in this series, we’ll focus on the quality of your staff as well as the variety of the classes you offer.
