Many of our customers have questions about the benefits and logistics of adding a fireplace glass door. Here are some of the most common inquiries we get regarding our premium fireplace glass doors and screens.

My fireplace keeps smoking. Will installing a fireplace glass door prevent this aggravating problem?

This question can only be answered on an individual basis. In some instances, a fireplace glass door will help stop a fireplace from smoking. In other cases, there’s a problem with your house or your chimney that will need to be addressed. A glass door may be the solution to your fireplace smoking issue if you notice that the fire only smokes at the start or finish of a fire. If this is the case, a door should provide relief, because you can keep it shut at the beginning and end of the fire each time you use your fireplace.

How can I keep my mesh fireplace curtain or my glass fireplace door from sticking?

If you have a problem with either the mesh curtain or glass door of your fireplace sticking when you go to open or close them, we would suggest replacing them with one of our Bosse or Stoll track-free screens or doors. The superior design of these quality products makes them both easy to use and durable. The screens are made of sturdy, solid panels so you don’t have to worry about them bunching and sticking when you try to open or close them. When you want to enclose your fireplace, simply secure the latch on your screen to keep any burning debris from accidentally falling out onto the floor.

You can expect even greater security from the glass doors we have to offer. They’ll keep your fireplace blocked until you’re ready to open them. If you want to enjoy the warmth of an open blaze for a while, simply swing the glass doors out to the side. Then swing them back when you’re ready to close it again. It’s just that simple!

Do you offer any glass fireplace door options for rough stone fireplaces?

Many people assume that if they have a rough stone fireplace opening to their fireplace they won’t be able to find a glass fireplace door that will fit snugly. Thankfully, we here at Kelloggs & Lawrence are pleased to be able to offer glass fireplace doors that fit right inside the fireplace opening. Because they rest up to a couple of inches behind the opening, the rough stone doesn’t pose a problem. You can still keep your fireplace’s rugged look while enjoying all the advantages of a glass fireplace door.

In our next article, we’ll look at a few more questions and answers about our fireplace glass doors and screens.

I like that swinging glass doors can be perfect for a fireplace because the heat coming into the room will easily be regulated. I’m thinking about hiring a glass door company in order to help me out in renovating my living room. I think aside from the room dividers that I might need, I will also have them check my fireplace and see if a glass door would be compatible to it.
